Charity Tandem Skydive in aid of The Princess Alexandra Hospital's Charity Breast Unit

PAH Charity provides vital funds for research to improve their understanding and help find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat breast cancer.

With the help of all their supporters, the money raised is used to purchase specialist equipment, introduce new initiatives and fund further research into the disease itself. Times are tough, but every single donation counts and is hugely valued. Whether it’s £5 or £1,000 you will be making a real difference.

The charity has been involved in more than 30 breast cancer clinical trials. Some of the drugs that were trialled in the charity's unit include Herceptin, Lapatinib, Trastuzumab Emtansine, Everolimus and Exemestane long before their approval by the regulatory bodies.  All these drugs are now part of the standard NHS breast cancer treatment nationwide.

Another project that the charity is involved with provides help and support to make the ladies feel fabulous and beautiful (FAB) while undergoing treatment. It includes advice on wigs, eyebrows and more. They also treat the ladies to either a manicure, pedicure or makeup all while enjoying a coffee and a chat. The psychological aspects of a patient’s changing appearance can be detrimental to their overall well-being, so by offering pamper days with make-up and styling advice, we help patients maintain their self esteem while undergoing treatment, which can improve their overall quality of life.

In 2013, the charity also set up a second programme called Pathway MBV, which stands for Mind Body Vitality. It addresses nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, relaxation and styling and gives patients the tools to move on from their diagnosis of cancer. Again both the FAB and Pathway programmes have been through The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust approval process.

Your support for this charity will potentially impact on nearly 58,000 men and women, who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer in the UK every year.
