Charity Tandem Skydive with Derain House

For the parents of a child diagnosed as terminally ill, there can be no long term future - the planning of their child’s education, the milestones in their child’s life - for who knows what tomorrow, next week, next year may bring. For them there is sufficient challenge in coping with their child’s illness from one day to the next.

For these families Derian House Children’s Hospice is the lifeline which gives them the strength to go on, their means of survival through the darkest moments. It gives their children a home from home, the best possible medical care, and as much fun and laughter as they can pack into their shortened lives. These children suffer from a wide range of illnesses which mean they may not be dying in the immediate sense, but suffer a relentless deterioration of their condition. Derian House offers them the optimum care and support to cope with their illness, and the means to lead as full and normal a life as possible.

2% of our funding coming from official sources, the reality is that they are open 365 days a year and receive statutory funding for just 4.

That is why it is vital that they continue to provide the care and support that these families, and others in the future, so desperately need. There is no charge laid down for the hospice care provided at Derian House, and as there is precious little help from central government for a children’ s hospice such as Derian House, they are just so grateful for all the donations they receive, both large and small, which allow them to continue to provide that care.
